-Seeds@City Farm is a 1-acre educational farm that grows organic preferred vegetables and fruits. This acts as the outdoor laboratory for the sustainable agriculture program, within which there are 9 different classes. See the Seeds@City farm website for more information.
- The City College Audubon Society Club has worked extensively to plant San Diego Native Plants on City College Campus. These plantings support native insects and birdlife.

In the sculpture shop, for fine art classes, an upcycle station was created for students to create projects from a variety of materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Community places have donated supplies over the years.
In ceramics, clay and glaze materials used to be thrown out 15 years ago. A recycling clay and glaze material program was established and continues to grow finding new ways to reuse the materials in new ways.

In ceramics class, water has been used to clean tools and wheel throwing over and over, to recycle clay and then to water plants. Water is reduced due to these practices and students learn from reusing water as much as possible.
