Name of the sustainability-focused graduate-level degree program:
Water Resource Engineering
A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:
The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at San Diego State University (SDSU) offers a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering and a Doctoral degree in Engineering Science and Applied Mechanics jointly with the University of California at San Diego (UCSD).

Watershed Science

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
Watershed science is the study of how ecosystems, landforms and soils, climate, water, and human activities interact within a spatial con- text. Although the boundaries of watersheds are dened by the movement of water, watershed science involves the study of a wide range of human and natural processes, their
interactions, and the implications of this complex interplay for environ- mental assessment and management. Students in this program will develop expertise in integrating environmental science (geology, biology, hydrology, physics, physical geography, chemistry) within a spatial context to address environmental issues. Students will take graduate courses in core sciences, spatial techniques, and environmental management and develop a thesis directed at a particular application on watershed science.

Name of the graduate-level sustainability-focused minor, concentration or certificate:
Environmental Studies Certificate
A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate:
The Environmental Studies Certificate is designed for students
already holding a bachelor’s degree (in any field) who desire
to increase their understanding of the theoretical and applied
approaches to environmental problems and issues. This is not a certificate
program in the hard sciences, but rather is intended to provide
diverse ways for students to develop knowledge of the causes and
consequences of the human impact on the environment and the
impact on humans of philosophical, political, economic, spatial, and
natural science perspectives. This professional development program
offers a multi-disciplinary approach to environmental studies for natural
resource managers, teachers, community activists, and others who
are concerned about the interaction of people and the environment.
