Recylemania
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
RecycleMania is a national, annual tournament among U.S. universities and colleges to see which schools are the best at reducing their waste and recycling. SDSU has engaged students, faculty, and staff in the tournament by hosting a waste minimization competition among the dorms, marketing the campus recycling guidelines across campus, playing a trash sorting game with campus individuals, and posting waste reduction and recycling tips on social media. By participating in RecycleMania, SDSU hopes to improve waste awareness on campus and ultimately reach its goal of zero-waste.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Recylemania resulted in reduced GHG emissions, 376 metric tons of CO2 were saved, the campus got up to a 32% diversion rate at our peak.
