A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
The Green Office Certification Program (GOCP) is an SDSU program created by the Office of Sustainability. Our purpose is to engage faculty and staff in sustainable practices within the office to promote a sustainable campus culture.
Hosting meetings with Green Office Program members to discuss their current sustainable practices and in what areas we can make sustainable improvements.
A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:
We select employees who are interested and willing to work with us to implement the Green Office Certification Program within their office.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
We present an informational powerpoint to new employee educators in order to inform them about the program. We give a summary about the program, the importance of participating, a program overview, sustainable practices and tools, and then open it up for questions and discussions.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
It’s supported through the Office of Sustainability that is led by a paid intern and supervised by the energy and sustainability officer.
