SCU values community service and employees are encouraged to give back to their communities. With respect to volunteering during their work hours, individual supervisors have the discretion to grant time off for personal leave. Policy #623 of the Santa Clara University Staff Policy Manual allows approved faculty to dedicate up to 40 work hours per calendar year to volunteer with an Ignatian Center run program or immersion trip. SCU annually recognizes employees who take initiative above and beyond to promote and enhance our community through volunteer service and personal responsibility outside of their job.
