The Center for Sustainability provides workshops for employees throughout the year:

Sustainability workshops are held during lunch in partnership with Human Resources’ Mission to Wellness program. Using the Sustainable Development Goals and the Sustainability Compass, employees learn sustainability competencies (i.e. systems thinking, strategic thinking, etc.), how to integrate sustainability in their personal and professional lives, and the connection between sustainability and wellness.

Additionally, Forge Garden workshops are held both during the week and on weekends to make them available to the maximum number of people. These workshops are available to all staff at no cost (unless supplies are required, then the cost covers the participants’ supplies). The workshops are usually an hour and a half long and cover broad topics of environmental stewardship, urban gardening, and more. Some example workshops include: Flower Arrangement, Zero Waste Cooking, Worm Composting.

SCU includes travel and professional development funds per department. For sustainability, funds are allocated to allow the Center for Sustainability staff to attend the AASHE Conference every year.
