Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes
A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
In collaboration with the Chio Lecca Fashion School in Peru, Seneca offers students in the School of Fashion immersive learning experiences through a faculty-led Program Abroad. During the 14-day trip, the group of students meet with and learn from local master artisans, get first-hand experience in the production of textiles and local sustainable practices, and receive theoretical and practical classes in entrepreneurship and export. They also propose a research project that could assist local Andean communities. Through the trip, students gain holistic learning experience through travelling in the Peruvian landscape and visiting the Inca cultural destinations. By the end of the trip, students will develop an appreciation of local communities for their caring and dedication for their work and will also hopefully be inspired to help build a more sustainable fashion industry.
