A brief description of the institution’s third party certified land holdings:
The management of University land is guided by a comprehensive management plan completed in 2019, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Forest Stewards Guild. All activities are certified sustainable through the Forest Stewardship Council, the gold standard in ecological forestry. Students take part in both the planning and implementation of all aspects of management including: harvest planning and inventory, prescribed fire, and exotic species management. Students participate in our management implemented to improve wildlife habitats, protect fragile species and ecosystems, and set an example of exemplary forest management in the region.
