Yes, the university is completing its first university wide assessment campus climate survey, focusing on diversity issues. The instrument has been developed by a committee in conjunction with Dr. Sue Rankin, a researcher from Penn State University. It will be administered during the fall 2010 semester.

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
The purpose of the project is to provide important information about the climate at Slippery Rock University and to enable SRU to improve the environment for working, living, and learning. This information will be used in conjunction with other data to provide the Slippery Rock University with an inclusive view of their institution.
OUTCOMES:
• Slippery Rock University will learn how all constituent groups (faculty, staff, students, and administrators) experience and perceive the climate for living, learning, and working at the Academy and how the community responds to them (e.g. governance issues, pedagogy, curricular issues, professional development, inter-group/intra-group relations, respect issues, etc.)
• Slippery Rock University will develop specific objectives and action plans to address institutional changes and cultural shifts.
