Yes, the university completes a campus climate survey, focusing on diversity issues. The instrument has been developed by a committee in conjunction with Dr. Sue Rankin, a researcher from Penn State University.

A brief description of the student diversity and educational equity assessment(s):
Student diversity and educational equity assessments conducted by third parties include the Education Trust and MONEY magazine. SRU was ranked 15th in the nation for vastly improving completion rates for underrepresented students (African-American, Latino and Native American) and decreasing the gap in completion rates between underrepresented and white students SRU's three-year average graduation rate for underrepresented populations is 48.9 percent, which is up 17.4 percent over a 10-year span covering 2003-2013. The three-year average for white students at SRU is 62.8 percent, an increase of 11.2 percent during that same time period. - See more at: http://www.sru.edu/news/120215a. A brief description of the employee diversity and employment equity assessment(s):
Slippery Rock University performs in-depth analysis of its total employment process to determine if there are areas where minority and/or female groups may face impediments to equal opportunity. The following analyses are conducted in order to reveal any potential problem areas: placement goals, an analysis of incumbency versus availability is performed to determine whether there are problems of minority or female utilization. The only area that showed under-utilization was females in the skilled crafts. Steps are being be taken to encourage and increase the percentage of qualified females and/or minorities applying for positions both externally and internally.
