FY20
All courses marketed to Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI is offered through the University of South Dakota and offers classes for people over 50 as a way to encourage life-long learning) members, many open to a greater community audience:
*Earth Day video tutorial series (attendees learned how to make re-usable bags, sustainable practices in planting your own garden at home, DIY native bee habitat)
*Rain Barrel Workshop (attendees learned about water conservation, sustainable practices of harvesting rainwater, and had the opportunity to buy a discounted rain barrel to use at home)
*Natural Plant Dyes Workshop (& accompanying video series to come – learn to sustainably harvest plants and/or weeds around your own yard or garden to naturally dye your own fabrics)
*Monarch Tagging Facebook Live Event (tour the Gardens and learn about the monarch migration, tagging to learn about their migration and sustainable practices to conserve habitat for our monarchs)

Learning Outcomes: Learning Outcome (s) for this activity as a result of participating in the activity:
• Native American nursing students and SDSU CON faculty at the Rapid City campus will identify two barriers to learning for Native American students
• At the end of the workshop, Native American nursing students and SDSU CON faculty at the Rapid City campus will identify two strategies to overcome the identified barriers.
• Non-native CON faculty and staff’s IAPCC-M (cultural competency in mentoring) scores will increase five points from pre-test to post-test.

Title of program or activity: Geography and sustainability in the US 1 Brief description of program or activity:
The overall goal of the program is to teach Ukrainian K-16 teachers and future teachers about Geography & Sustainability in the US so that they can better explain it to their students.
List of learning objectives and their outcomes:
--understand basic concepts in sustainability
--examine topics such as food, housing, and city design in the United States
--acquire the English vocabulary required to explain sustainability in English
--practice speaking in English while discussing sustainability topics
