Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
1: SCI-373 (Regional Sustainability Field Study) The class is designed to be a two-week intensive field-based class in the Pacific Northwest. Students will travel throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho studying the interactions between humans and the environment. Unlike a traditional classroom setting, students will be actually experiencing the topics covered first hand. Some places that will be covered and experienced on the trip are as follows: channeled scablands, Mt. Rainier National Park, Grand Coulee Dam, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Pacific Ocean, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, and the Oregon Trail. This course can be taken more than once.

2. BIO-2ST2 (Tropical Ecology and Marine Biology) This course focuses on the biology and ecology of tropical ecosystems in the rainforest and marine environments. Students are introduced to basic concepts of tropical and marine biology during the spring semester and then have an opportunity to join a two-week field trip to Honduras the following summer. While in the field, students gain hands-on experience of what they learned in the classroom. Throughout the course, students review basic ecological and biological concepts and review case studies on issues related to the conservation of plants and wildlife. The main goal is for students to experience and appreciate factors influencing ecosystem health and understanding how to monitor and protect these fragile ecosystems, especially in regard to the impacts of climate change and challenges to sustainability.
