Does the institution's GHG emissions inventory include all Scope 3 GHG emissions from any of the following categories?:
Yes or No | |
Business travel | Yes |
Commuting | Yes |

A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
We took the operational control approach. We used a custom tool provided by Sodexho, who operates our food service on campus. All campus buildings and operations are included. Advantage IQ, which uses WBCSD and WRI protocols, was the source of emission coefficients used.
None
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the internal and/or external verification process:
Peer reviewed- Presented to Facilities Committee and Sustainability Committee

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives, including efforts made during the previous three years:
• The institution believes strongly in reducing GHG emission sources rather than purchasing carbon offsets. This is clearly evident when you look at South western’s GHG reports and the reduction of GHG via our contract for 100% wind power.
• Replacing a number incandescent, fluorescent and HID lighting with LEDs
• In our facility audit project evaluations include sustainability and conservation.
