1st Campaign
Do something drastic, CUT the Plastic!
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
This campaign encourages students to reduce the amount of plastic waste they generate by making sustainable choices around campus. The campaign began with Student Orientation - students were challenge on their knowledge of what is recyclable on campus via our mock 'Recycling Store'. If a student brought five recyclable items to our 'store' they would receive a zero waste item, such as a set of bamboo cutlery. Four out of six campus newsletters themes were focuses on reducing waste and plastic plastic waste. In 2018, plastic straws were no longer available on campus, we moved to compo stable and paper straws. We continued to promote our Eco-container program and our Bring Your Own Mug initiative. Student can ask for an eco-container when ordering food in the cafeteria and if they bring their own mug, they receive $0.10 off.

After the campaign was launched, student and staff pressure helped to stop the purchasing of plastic straws tri-campus and the eco-container program is now tri-campus.

2nd Campaign
Winter Coat Drive
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):
As winter approaches for the past three years, Footprint has ran our Winter Coat Drive. We engage staff and student to donate their gently used coats, hats, gloves, socks, boots and ski pants to community members in need. We partner with Hotel Dieu, a local hospital that collects and distributes the coats. Donation bins are placed through the campuses and and our community was informed via email blasts, posters and social media.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Our campuses located in cold weather climates, as a result not being dressed for the cold can result in injury or loss of life. Over the past three years we've donated 245 coats to people in our community in need and this year, and this year, some of our international students benefited from the campaign.
