A brief description of the institution’s programs to support students, staff and/or faculty from underrepresented groups:
St. Lawrence College aims to improve access and equity in a full-service/full-program manner on all three campuses through service delivery, facility design, institutional culture considerations and policy development. It is proud to be a community college serving the diverse needs of its students and communities across geographic, social and economic boundaries. It provides a broad spectrum of supports and services to help improve access for first generation students, Indigenous students, students with disabilities and Crown wards.
Dedicated services, staffing and spaces for Indigenous students at each campus along with a suite of support services to help ensure the success of the increasing population of Indigenous students on campus (17 per cent increase 2017). In addition, an Aboriginal Education Council consisting of St. Lawrence staff and community members provides input and strategic advice on Indigenous education and partnerships. St. Lawrence College is a partner in a Queen’s University-led research study examining gaps in addressing Indigenous issues within post-secondary education curriculum. Results of the study will influence curriculum developments at St. Lawrence College as well as other post-secondary institutions in a response to recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. http://stlawrencecollege.ca/campuses-and-services/services-and-facilities/indigenous-support/

INCLUSION MATTERS AT SLC TRAINING SUITE FOR FACULTY
Embracing inclusion in higher education is a vital component of a strategy to foster innovation and creativity. Inclusion brings openness to new ideas, a more creative student body and workforce, access to a wider range of talent, and most importantly, fosters a sense of belonging for all. St. Lawrence College is committed to providing an inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment. To this end, the School of Contemporary Teaching and Learning (SCTL) has developed a training suite aimed at staff and faculty in order to assist them in creating culturally competent and inclusive educational work spaces at the College, to ensure all members of the College community are affirmed and supported. The training suite entitled “Inclusion Matters at SLC” is a four module program that seeks to engage the St. Lawrence community in conversations, discovery, and learning about equity and inclusion principals and to provide resources, knowledge, and tools required to make St. Lawrence College an inclusive campus.
The training suite is comprised of four, 2.5 hour modules that are highly interactive in nature and foster group work and reflective thinking.

• Module #3: Including and Honouring Indigenous Culture in Educational Settings
• Module #4: Supporting Sexual and Gender Diversity in and out of the Classroom
THE BADGE
After completing each module, participants (students, faculty, staff) will receive the “Inclusion matters at SLC” sticker and the corresponding flower petal to place on the sticker, representing the associated topic. Individuals who complete the modules are encouraged to place the stickers in their work, living, or study areas to identify their space as inclusive to everyone. The visibility of the stickers seek to overcome both overt and subtle forms of discrimination and harassment, to avoid making assumptions about race, ethnicity, religion, ability, sexual orientation or gender identity, and to signal that all are welcome.
