A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:
Our Pollinator Garden (http://scottarboretum.org/gardentour/pollinator-garden/) meets the National Wildlife Federation’s guidelines for Certified Wildlife Habitat by providing food sources, a water source, places for cover, places to raise young, and by following sustainable gardening practices. http://www.nwf.org/Get-Outside/Outdoor-Activities/Garden-for-Wildlife/Create-a-Habitat.aspx “Overlooking the Crum Creek, the Crum Woods is a 200-acre woodland managed as a natural area by the Arboretum... The Arboretum is committed to maintaining the Crum Woods as a natural forest by managing invasive species and replanting native trees and shrubs with the help of a loyal group of volunteers who work each winter in the Crum Woods.” The health of the woods is overseen by the College’s Crum Woods Stewardship Committee. "Our goal is to create a protection, restoration, and stewardship plan for Crum Woods. The planning effort will begin with an evaluation of biodiversity, teaching and recreational resources in the context of the College's educational mission and its commitment to social responsibility. The committee will develop the plan in collaboration with College faculty, staff, and students as well as stakeholders in surrounding communities, and will engage the services of professional experts."
