In 2011 Green Advisors operated as a student organization. They organized events, put up a bathroom digest, oversaw composting in the dorms, drying racks, and started a plastic bag recycling collection.

Anyone who shows an interest and regularly comes to meetings is included.

In the first two meetings, students are shown how to do hall composting, and put up digests. Students also have conversations with returning members about how to communicate with RAs, environmental services staff, and hallmates.

The Green Advisors receive an annual budget from the Student Budgeting Committee (SBC). Special events throughout the semester are also funded through SBC.
A proposal is being discussed to turn the volunteer GAs into a staff supervised, paid position.
