Does the institution meter all energy consumption (electricity, natural gas, purchased steam, etc.) for at least one building?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the metering system:
Swarthmore College has a central heat plant from which the bulk of the college's utility needs are served. Both natural gas and fuel oil are metered as they are burned in the boiler plant. Electricity is also metered from the central plant. Additional submeters are installed in outlying buildings. All of our remote buildings are metered separately. The energy used is routinely recorded for reporting purposes to state and other agencies. We have a twenty year history of Heat Plant electric and fuels which is saved on excel spreadsheets. The compiled data is shared with interested constituencies on the campus as requested. Real time energy data for the whole campus and individual buildngs is available from the Facilities website.
