"The fundamental objective of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program is to increase the number of minority students, and others with a demonstrated commitment to eradicating racial disparities, who will pursue PhDs in core fields in the arts and sciences." The Richard Rubin Scholar Mentoring Program was established in 2004 by an initial gift from Richard Rubin and a group of his former Swarthmore students.
