A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
All first year students attend diversity workshops, which aim "to introduce new students to the range of issues surrounding student social diversity and the ways in which students are different by virtue of their race, ethnicity, age, class, political ideology, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and ability. The overall goal is to help new students develop a level of 'comfort and confidence' with diversity at Swarthmore so they can pro-actively engage other students across the boundaries of difference."
