A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
PSRF Rachel Vresilovic worked with Carr Everbach to come up with two definitions, one for sustainability-focused courses and one for sustainability-inclusive coruses. She then used those definitions to go through the 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Swarthmore course catalogs to designate courses under these two definitions. This was sorted by department and put into a comprehensive spreadsheet. This spreadsheet was then sent out the the Swarthmore departments, asking them to confirm whether the course designations that were given were accurate. This input was then what helped shape the final number of sustainability courses that were counted in the inventory.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
There are only 33 academic departments from which courses were counted. Although Athletics is considered a department (explaining by 34 departments are counted in IC 3) by the Registrar’s Office, courses offered by Athletics were not considered in our count of courses that were sustainability focused or contained topics concerning sustainability.
