A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
Temple University is a member of the Academic Benchmarking Consortium (ABC Insights). The Consortium currently includes over 40 top public universities from around the country. ABC works with members to analyze labor costs associated with administrative activities in eight core areas: facilities, human resources, finance, development, IT, research administration, communications and student support. The output creates new visibility on spending and enables members to benchmark both internally and against peer institutions.
ABC labor cost data examines spending on administrative services. The Quality Matters survey collects data on perceptions of the quality of the services provided. Combined, these data will enable university leaders to make strategic decisions to improve efficiency and sustain the academic mission.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
Preliminary results indicate above average satisfaction in the functional categories IT and Student Services as well as high ratings for Public Safety, Payroll Processing and Groundskeeping. Below average ratings indicated for dining services, accounts payable and purchasing. We are currently working on a communication plan and determining how we will make results and progress known to a broader audience.
