2022 PlantsRock! and Earth Day Celebration

A brief description of the campaign:
In honor of Earth Day, the Office of Sustainability invited other groups to help us celebrate TTU's plaza. All students, professors and staff were invited to participate. The Office of Sustainability did an event at this celebration called PlantsRock! At this event we gave those participating the opportunity to plant a flower in a recycled planter. These planters are made of a used plastic bottle. The Office of Sustainability also invites participants to paint a rock to say something happy or positive. Participants can either keep them for themselves or we distribute them around campus for all to see.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
At each event we saw a rise in student engagement with our office. The Office of Sustainability offers multiple surveys throughout the year. These surveys are promoted at all events for students to take. There has been quite a rise in the number of surveys taken between before the event and after the event.

2021 Water Week

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
March 22-26 was Water Week in 2021. Water Week is put on to show students how important water truly is. During this week The Office of Sustainability hosted its first writing contest with the central theme of water. We also had the opportunity to have a table set up on TTU's plaza where we shared information about sustainability and passed out reusable water bottles. The Volpe Library also displayed water themed books. The Office of Sustainability also had the opportunity to read a children's book at the Child Development Lab.

A brief description of other sustainability-related outreach campaigns:
TN Tech students partner with Keep Putnam County Beautiful Clean Commission in its annual Putnam Proud county-wide clean-up event. The university typically has the largest participation of all groups involved. FY21 10 student groups, totaling 120+ students, spent over 300 hours picking up litter in our county.

In spring of 2021 we were able to resume normal events after missing events due to the pandemic.
