A brief description of the IPM plan(s) :
We are currently implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) into our services by engaging in more environmentally safe practices and using more organic-based products. Under our Turf Services group, our IPM group is routinely addressing weed, insect, and pest control concerns. We are currently aerating and composting high profile turf areas in an effort to combat the overuse of chemicals and fertilizers, which eradicate beneficial microbes in the soil and promote greater insect and disease problems. We are exploring alternative products, such as orange oil, to help assist in fire ant abatement. An active bird abatement program is also in place which aims at displacing birds instead of harming them; leading to improved health benefits due to bird feces (guano) reduction. Other forms of insecticides (non-systemic vs. systemic) are being explored to reduce impact to beneficial insects and animals. We are staffed with 30 licensed pesticide applicators and maintain our licenses through a yearly course for CEU’s.
