A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:
Texas A&M issued a Request for Proposal for a Sustainability Master Plan (SMP) and marketing/branding plan. Once we contracted with HCK2, we assembled a team that represented staff in operational areas such as facilities, utilities, environmental health & safety, and engineering. We also involved faculty members from Architecture and Geosciences, as well us undergraduate and graduate students. As the consultants developed the “Sustainability 12” we asked staff with authority to make purchasing decisions in the respective area to review the suggested metrics and timelines. For instance, any metric related to greenhouse gases or utility consumption were reviewed and approved by the Associate Director of Utilities and Energy Management (UEM). Transportation and Dining metrics were approved by their respective leadership. Ultimately, the SMP was modeled with STARS in mind. When the draft plan was in its final stage, it was shared with the Office of the Provost.
