A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:
This track gives students a scientific foundation to make significant environmental policy, legislation, and decision-making concerning the environment. Environmental Studies balances an education in the geosciences (Meteorology, Geology and Geophysics, Oceanography, and Geography) with environmental policy and the social sciences (Economics, Human Geography, Politics, Planning, and Sociology). The program also prepares students for entry into graduate and professional schools, including law, public health, public policy, and urban and regional planning.

The Renewable and Natural Resources degree is for students with a broad interest in natural resources and ecology, including forestry and associated values such as range and wildland, wildlife, recreation, water, and other environmental sciences. Students may design degree plans emphasizing natural resource management, social and public policy, or biophysical sciences.

This track is an intensive, interdisciplinary study for students interested in scientific and technical careers. Students study the interactions between Earth’s surfaces, oceans, and atmosphere. The curriculum also focuses on the study of modern environmental issues. Courses taken are a part of a variety of departments, including: Atmospheric Sciences, Geography, Geology and Geophysics, and Oceanography. Junior and Senior students typically refine their studies to one particular aspect, such as coastal processes, water and the environment, climate change, or human interactions with the environment. Students will also become familiar with various tools needed to approach environmental concerns such as Geographic Information Science (GIS), remote sensing, and environmental sampling and surveying.

A brief description of the undergraduate minor, concentration or certificate:
The Minor in Sustainable Architecture and Planning provides undergraduate students with a multidisciplinary approach to understanding sustainability of the built environment. The curriculum emphasizes an awareness of responsible practices at a variety of scales impacting the built environment: buildings, communities, architectural systems, global resource management, and social equity. Students will become aware of responsible architectural design and develop critical thinking skills to address the multifaceted issues facing the profession today.
