A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
Qualtrics was used for the mode split survey this semester. Of the 997 students (undergraduate and graduate) that responded to the survey 557 students indicated their primary way to reach campus was a more sustainable method than commuting in a single occupancy vehicle. Sustainable methods included skate/skateboard, electric skateboard, privately owned bicycles, privately owned electric bicycles, carpooling, bike share, kick scooter, moped, or electric scooter. The survey was conducted in September of 2019. We changed the timing for our mode split survey to the fall semester so we are currently in the process of gathering our 2018 numbers. The new survey will include on campus mobility in addition to getting to school or work.
