Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes
Percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample (0-100):
100
A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
A Staff Climate Survey was administered in May 2016. This survey was designed to learn about staff experiences and enhance the working environment at our various campuses. For the first time, the survey results were captured separately for each College and Division, which provides each unit more meaningful and actionable data.
Going forward, the frequency of the climate survey will shift from every three years to every four years. For the past several years, Texas A&M has conducted university-wide campus climate surveys on three-year cycles. However, the three-year cycle had not permitted sufficient time for the campus to implement strategies, assess effectiveness, and reflect on progress.
In March 2020, the Office for Diversity, in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Evaluation, will launch campus climate surveys for Texas A&M students, faculty, and staff. The purpose of this collaboration is to reduce survey fatigue, improve response rates, and ensure that our campus climate data are useful for longitudinal assessment of progress and challenges. The surveys will be sent to all students, faculty, and staff from across our campuses including the Health Science Center, the School of Law, and the Galveston and Qatar campuses.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
The 2016 Staff Climate Survey was distributed via email inviting all staff to participate in the survey. Employees had the option of entering into a voluntary prize drawing for one of 5 iPad minis and 5 Fitbits. The survey resulted in a 32% response rate. Survey results were captured separately for each College and Division so that the leadership of each unit could directly address issues raised by the survey.
