Intentional and strategic steps were taken to sustain a culture of employee wellness at Texas A&M University. WELLNESS WORKS!, Texas A&M University’s official employee wellness program, continued to grow during FY18. The System Wellness Grant Funds (FY18) along with additional funding provided by the University helped bring wellness initiatives to reality to benefit the health and well-being of our faculty, staff, and overall campus community. In 2018, WELLNESS WORKS! continued to offer programming that promotes holistic well-being amongst faculty and staff using three program pillars – physical, financial, and interpersonal wellness. The physical pillar was enhanced through the promotion of healthy vending options across campus as well as through a six-week nutrition series. The interpersonal pillar grew through the organization of a six-week mindfulness meditation series and recruitment of additional WELL Leaders who serve as volunteer wellness ambassadors. The financial pillar was promoted through monthly opportunities for faculty and staff to meet with financial advisors and/or attend financial wellness presentations. Monthly newsletters, presentations, and educational opportunities were made available to faculty and staff to help improve quality of life, decrease healthcare costs, increase engagement and productivity, and help the University recruit and retain the exceptional faculty and staff who carry out the mission of teaching, research, and service. Some examples of the WELLNESS WORKS! program's include: 1. Implementation of Wellness Release Time which is 30 minutes, 3 times per week during work hours 2. Over 30 free fitness activities/classes each week 3. Onsite wellness checkups through Catapult Health 4. Expanded flu vaccine clinic 5. Employee Tuition Assistance Program 6. Financial Wellness Counseling 7. Parenting Resources 8. Sleep Education Resources 9. Ergonomics 10. WELL Leader program 12. Summer Kickball League 13.
