Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The data on student service hours supplied here comes from the 2017 Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey. The SERU survey is conducted every 3 to 4 years. The data from the SERU is coupled with a few key leadership and service related organizations to arrive at the total hours submitted. Texas A&M is firmly committed to community service, so much so that one of our six core values is Selfless Service.
Our score for this category does not accurately reflect the investment our students make every year in community service because at this time we are unable to capture the total number of volunteers and the hours they dedicate to selfless service.
Additionally, the global pandemic that hit during the spring 2020 semester has significantly impacted students’ ability to engage in service as desired due to stringent guidelines to keep our local, national, and global community safe. Therefore, the typical number of hours reported have been significantly impacted by COVID-19.
