A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:
The Sustainable Event certification was launched in April 2022 and encourages event planners across campus to implement more sustainable practices by providing them with a framework and resources. This certification can be completed by any student, faculty, staff, or student organization.
The certification is split into eight sections: 1. Planning 2. Promotion 3. Food 4. Purchasing 5. Waste Reduction 6. Transportation & Location 7. Social Sustainability 8. Innovation and Bonus
As this program is only a few months old, only two events were certified in 2022, the annual Sustainability Awards Breakfast and Campus Sustainability Day.
