The San Marcos Campus is situated within the burgeoning City of San Marcos and contains more than 491 acres, 209 buildings, and more than 8,000,000 GSF. This campus houses ten colleges and provides a wide range of baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. It is defined by the natural topographic beauty of the central Texas Hill Country, Spring Lake, and the San Marcos River.
Texas State University has an additional 4,000 acres of academic, agricultural, research, and recreation areas which include Freeman Ranch and University Camp. Also included is the off-campus KTSW radio transmitter, the L.D. and LaVerne Harrell Clark House, the Albert B. Library Archives and Research Center, and the ALERRT training center.

Texas State University operates a second campus located in Williamson County, 20 miles north of the City of Austin. The Round Rock Campus, on 101 acres with three buildings, will be treated as a separate entity for the purpose of STARS reporting based on its disparate location and unique function.
Texas State University also includes the Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Park, a 58-acre site situated approximately five miles from the San Marcos Campus. Due to its distinct function of serving as a business incubator and research park, this location will not be included in STARS reporting.
Texas State University also operates the Texas Justice Court Training Center in Austin, Texas. Due to its distinct function of training elected officials for office and its distinct location, this facility will not be included in STARS reporting.
