Universidad de Monterrey host different events along the year to welcome new students and prospect students. Gente UDEM: At the beggining of the second semester of the year (August) students are received in our massive and conmemorative event "Gente UDEM" where registered students have the opportunity to participate in different activities to understand how university works and everything it has to offer. During this event the Sustainabilty Center offers multiple conferences and workshops to explain students the programs and invite them to participate and work together to build a sustainable community. In 2020 and 2021, the event was completely online and the Sustability Center offered one conference per day for a week. In every edition of this event, second and third year students that are already engage on sustainability efforts have the opportunity to share their projects.
First Year School: Every new student must attend the First Year School program,"UDEM 101" In this program they get involve in different activities that are offered at UDEM, from cultural events to leadership and sustainability activities. Within this programa we offer a module to explain the environmental dimension of wellness. Students learn what are sustainable communities, what campus' events support fair trade and how they can collaborate with the Sustainability Center along year.
For transfer and exchange students the International Programs Office host a event every semester to help foreing students to know Universidad the Monterrey, incluiding different areas such as Sustainability Center and their projects. This orientation also includes tours and talks to know the sorroundings of the university, how to transport efficiently around the town, where to buy local, places for ecotourism, etc.
Soy UDEM/Experimenta UDEM: Twice a year, prospect students visit UDEM. During this event the Sustainability Center promotes educational activities and invites the future students to learn more about our programs and projects to create a more sustainable world.
