A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:
UDEM has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Its main initiatives are:
New constructions certified with LEED Silver-Gold, which guarantee a sustainable consumption of resources.
Mobility plan for the UDEM population, with the purpose of mainly reducing the use of private cars and increasing the use of shared and zero-emission means of transport.
Increase of green areas within the campus, with the adoption of trees by students and collaborators that promote awareness.
UDEM has shown to buy electricity from renewable or low-carbon sources (as it had done between 2015 and 2017), however, the national context has complicated progress in this goal. Therefore, it has started a study to install photovoltaic panels that satisfy the electricity demand of the residents.
