In recent years, UDEM has promoted the use of bicycles as a means of transport for students. As one of those efforts, the construction of a bike path with direct connection to the campus has been proposed, which will be inaugurated in 2022.

UDEM makes use of the Waze Carpool application to facilitate shared trips for students and collaborators.

To promote carpooling as a means of transportation, the university has allocated free parking spaces for students arriving on campus with 3 or more passengers.

This carpool campaign is being redesigned in conjunction with a group of students, hoping to improve the carpool passenger experience as well as its benefits on campus.

UDEM has 2 charging stations for electric cars. These charging stations can be used by the UDEM community for free, and are located in the busiest buildings on campus.

Circuito UDEM is a free vanpooling transport service that encourages employees to live close to campus as it has coverage in neighboring municipalities. Also, it has arrival and departure times coordinated with the schedules of the collaborators, so that it is always a transportation option for them.

A brief description of other programs or initiatives to encourage more sustainable modes of transportation and/or reduce the impact of student and employee commuting:
In recent years, the university has prioritized the development of a Comprehensive Mobility Plan in order to offer and encourage more sustainable and safe modes of transport for the UDEM population.

Within this mobility plan, initiatives for carpool and vanpooling, public transport, school transport, bicycle program and walks are considered in coordination with the local government.

Carpooling: Ridesharing is encouraged for students through the Waze Carpool app. The university has allocated free and exclusive parking spaces for cars with 3 or more passengers when arriving on campus.

Public transport: Personalized guidance on public transport routes to and from the campus and surroundings. Also, 'Tarjeta feria' providers are invited to campus to help students request the electronic payment method.

Vanpooling: The university offers free school transport through its vanpooling service. This service is for the entire university community and covers more than 20 routes.

By bicycle: the use of bicycles as a means of transport is encouraged through institutional events such as the 'bi-school', 'Rodadas' and 'Mobility Dialogues'.

These events are opinion panels, talks with specialists, and bicycle marathons where the entire Udem population is invited to participate and become aware of the correct choice of means of transport, environmental impacts and passenger safety.

In addition, focus groups are held annually to find out the needs, concerns and effective incentives to implement from the voice of the users themselves.

Walking: adjustments were made to the campus to improve pedestrian accessibility. Within these improvements are considered ramps, exclusive drawers for people with disabilities, new green areas by eliminating hundreds of parking spaces to promote pedestrian mobility. In addition, it collaborates with the local government to indicate the needs of students who walk to campus.
