In Sherbrooke, the local living wage for one adult can be found in the Report ‘Le revenu viable 2021 : Pour une sortie de pandémie sans pauvreté’ [EN: The living wage in 2021: A way out of the pandemic without poverty], mainly at page 9. This report was prepared and published by the Institut de recherche et d’informations socioéconomiques (IRIS) [EN: Institute for Socio-Economic Research and Information].
To transpose this living wage into an hourly wage, we used the income calculator made available by the Government of Quebec. This calculator allows to find the gross work income necessary to obtain the available income (after taxes and credits) to cover living wage expenses.
All salaries at the Université de Sherbrooke start at a higher rate than the living (hourly) wage: $15.26 per hour or more.
