A brief description of the enterprise:
Université Laval’s Coop Roue-Libre was the first self-service cooperative bike shop in Québec. It opened on August 31, 2009.
Its mission is to empower community members to maintain, repair, and use their bicycles as a means of transportation. The cooperative also aspires to be a model for utility biking in Québec.
As of October 1, 2012, Coop Roue-Libre had attracted over 1,000 user members and 50 volunteers, created nine jobs, and seen more than 3,300 visits to its workshop.
