A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
Through a study, we can estimate the percentage of food and beverage expenditure that are grown and processed within 250 miles of the institution to about 20 %. Further investigations in the years to come will allow us to obtain a more precise analysis. This estimate is established from information provided by the contractor. Also, as of now, we are not able to estimate the percentage of third-party certified food and beverages bought by the primary contractor. There are currently no sustainable food and beverage purchasing program. However, the university food policy regarding healthy eating promotes the maximization of the use of seasonal products, which in turn support locally grown products.
