A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
Université Laval helped in the development of Ville de Québec’s metropolitan waste material management plan (MWMP) to promote best practices and share the University’s expertise. The MWMP identifies key issues for the city, primary strategies, and objectives in terms of reducing, reusing, and recovering waste materials.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
Université Laval supports Conférence régionale des élus de la Capitale–Nationale, an advisory board of elected officials, in promoting and implementing the integrated forest and natural resource development plan for the Québec City area. Université Laval also participated to the Quebec universities pension plans law consultations advocating for maintaining the living standards of people (pensioners and future pensioners) and the ability of universities to meet their financial obligations.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
Université Laval collaborated with Canada Economic Development (CED) in redefining the vision of economic development in Québec’s regions for the next five years. The University shared its expertise on the region’s strengths and economic challenges and put forward potential solutions.

Yes

Since December 2011, Université Laval is registered as a participant of the United Nations Global Compact. Université Laval is also proud to have participated in the evaluation of A Practical Guide to the United Nations Global Compact for Higher Education Institutions: Implementing the Global Compact and Communicating on Progress.
