A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
Numerous scientific discoveries and advances in the forestry sector make it possible to use wood as a structural element in the construction of medium and high-rise buildings or buildings of larger area. The appearance of engineered wood products particularly well suited to industrial construction has created a need for skilled labor, particularly among civil engineers, building engineers and construction engineers since the construction techniques of these types of buildings differ from those of single-family buildings. By adding wood to conventional materials in the field of industrial construction in the curriculum of civil engineering students, Université Laval becomes the only Canadian university to have an advanced training offer in structures with at least four different materials.
