A brief description of the IPM program:
Pest management in and around buildings is contracted out to Maheu & Maheu,a qualified company that adheres to the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM ). In addition, Maheu & Maheu plays a pioneering environmental role in the industry by introducing, in 1989, its “Ratio PMP” program to minimize the use of pesticides.
Pest management on the grounds is also carried out in accordance with IPM principles. Establishment of appropriate action thresholds, monitoring, and control are the cornerstones of the university’s pest management approach, whether it be for the campus’s 800 American elms, the Van den Hende Botanical Garden, or the green spaces on campus.
