A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
IIn fall 2017 and winter 2018, we respectively surveyed undergraduate and graduate students and asked them which method they generally used to get to campus in each season. The responses received were analyzed to ensure that the samples were representative of the student population. With representativeness confirmed, we determined averages for the various means of transportation. We added up the averages for students traveling on foot or by bike, bus, or carpool, as well for those who didn’t need to travel because they live on campus in residence.
