A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Université Laval is implementing several means of communication to raise awareness and inform new employees.
First of all, sections concerning sustainable development initiatives are reserved on the employees' web platform. These sections inform staff members about the University's carbon neutrality. In addition, urls are present in more than one place to redirect people who wish to learn more to the official Université Laval sustainability page. On this website, new staff members are informed of several dimensions related to SD such as: climate action, energy management, waste reduction, responsible investments, sustainable mobility, responsible food and more.
Université Laval provides its new employees with a welcome and integration guide. This guide provides information on various initiatives and values of the University related to sustainable development.
o Sustainable mobility offers to get to work.
o Responsible food offers on campus.
o The Mon équilibre ULaval sustainable health program offering, including a directory of free resources and services, a list of free activities and training related to food and wellness, and a list of credited distance learning courses related to sustainable health available to all.
o The University's EDI initiatives related to its action plan, including the procedure for self-identification and trainings available to employees.
At the beginning of each session, a personalized email per unit is sent to all employees. This email is used to inform employees, both new and old, who their local sustainable development representative is. This is a contact person that employees can talk to to learn more about sustainability in their unit or in general. Other information related to current sustainability developments is included in the email.
