A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
The University Dining Services has partnered with Chartwells, our food service provider, to increase our local and sustainable food purchases. This has included identifying the supplier of foods to determine their location and sustainable practices, adjusting philosophies and priorities with regards to local purchases and seeking out new wholesalers that can supply local foods. To supplement this effort, dining services has sponsored local food nights and begun labelling the source of foods in the dining hall.
