A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
Our physical campus plan is divided between two plans, the Facilities Master Plan, and the Landscape Master Plan (http://www.albany.edu/campusplanning/documents/UADesignGuidelines.pdf). The Landscape Master Plan was adopted in 2010, and the Facilities Master Plan is still in the development stages, but is slated to be finished in 2012. The Facilities Master Plan is being planned in accordance with the Planning Principles for the Facilities Master Plan which includes sustainable measures. The Planning Principles include: investing in sustainable infrastructure, enhancing social spaces, etc. The Landscape Master Plan includes sustainable features such as porous pavement, local and native plant species, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure improvements, handicap accessibility improvements, proper soil care and drainage, reduction in salt damage, use of green roofs, and participation in the LEED system.
