Documentation

A copy of the institution’s inventory of its sustainability course offerings and descriptions:
Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:
Three

A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
Since the Fall 2020 semester, the Office of Sustainability compiles a list of sustainability related and focused courses offered by the university using a key word search. The database for this credit was developed by compiling those offering. Each course description was reviewed by the sustainability staff to determine their sustainability designation.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
Each course offering was counted as a single course and if a course was cross listed, that was also counted as one course to be consistent with the way the overall amount of courses offered is calculated by Institutional Research. The only exception si if a course was cross listed as undergraduate and graduate. In that case, the course would count as one undergraduate course and one graduate course to be consistent with the way the courses were counted in the overall numbers obtained by Institutional Research.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
We did not include independent study, thesis, or dissertation courses in the count. Since many of the sustainability courses are offered on an alternate year basis, we decided to use a three year perspective to give a better overview of the courses that are available for students to take.
The use of a three year time frame and limiting our database to only those courses that have been offered represents an improvement from our past submissions where we limited to a one year time frame and developed the inventory based on all the courses in the undergraduate and graduate bulletin, regardless if those courses were offered.
We anticipate modifying our semester sustainability course review, adding key words used in other exemplar submissions and surveying faculty to learn about courses that include sustainability content which may not be discovered through our key word search.
