A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
All new hires are sent a New Employee Welcome packet which includes information on University Learning and Development, Wellness Programs, Community Activities, Child Care, etc. Included in the packet is the University schedule for transportation services and carpooling and bicycling information. Employees are then invited to a group orientation program where all aspects and benefits of employment at the University are introduced and explained. UB Sustainability has contributed educational information to this orientation session, in the form of content for a power point presentation on conserving resources and protecting the environment. A video, specifically developed for new employees, highlights various aspects of UB's sustainability achievements and educates new employees on ways they can contribute to our sustainability initiatives. Employees learn of the University’s commitment to reducing waste, recycling, saving energy, and the various opportunities employees have to participate in sustainability-based activities, groups and events. Employees are encouraged to practice these policies in their work and home environment and to contact UB Sustainability with suggestions and questions for improvements and contributions.
