A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:
Students get an understanding in not only the physics of the climate system and the environment but also a working hands on knowledge of how data and information is used in decision making. Students interested in seeking a master’s degree in ESS can specialize in similar topic areas, namely GIS/remote sensing, land surface processes, geospatial analysis, and land-atmosphere interactions. They are also well learned in the subjects of hydrology, air pollutants, natural disasters, and many more.

Environmental Engineering
A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration:
The undergraduate environmental engineering option provides an education necessary for many aspects of environmental management and remediation. Students are introduced to water quality, atmospheric pollution, environmental systems, and statistics. The student can take courses in industrial waste, environmental sampling, and erosion as technical electives. Faculty promote an interdisciplinary approach to the solution of complex environmental problems. CE graduates with a major in Environmental Engineering are prepared for careers with government regulatory and advisory agencies, industries, and consulting organizations concerned with environmental problems.

Environmental chemistry focuses on the study of various chemical and biochemical processes occurring in the environment. It studies the sources, reactions, transport, effects, and fates of chemical species in the air, soil, and water environments; and the effect of human activity on these.

Chemical Engineering students have the ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. Graduates are expected to engage in educational, business, or technical activities with an understanding of global and economic impacts, civic responsibility, and environmental and human safety.
