WELLBEING SERVICES FOR STUDENTS
UCI’s Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion (CSWHP) strives to be a leader in collegiate health promotion by focusing on the unique and relevant health needs and concerns of UCI students in support of their academic success. We empower students to make informed decisions that support individual health and a healthy campus environment by providing comprehensive programs and coordinated services. Based on assessment data, we provide programs and services in the following identified topic areas: Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing; Sexual & Relationship Health; Alcohol & Other Drugs; Wellness & Selfcare; Nutrition & Body Image. A Program Manager oversees each of these topic areas.
We have three programmatic modalities to deliver our programs. Large-scale events, like health fairs, introduce students to the campus and community resources that support their health and wellbeing. Program Managers present workshops or facilitate trainings for housing communities, athletic teams, student organizations, classrooms, and many other audiences throughout campus and in the community. Individual consultations are also available for students to get personal attention and feedback, and are facilitated by our Program Managers.
In addition to informational programs and individual consultations, CSWHP provides various services to supplement their educational messaging with services that create and support a healthy environment. We host/facilitate Wednesday Wellness Walks in campus/local nature to support mental health; provide a Condom Co-op, with free sexual health resources; provide Responsible Hospitality/Server training for those who serve alcohol on campus; maintain a Wellness Room with massage chairs and other resources, where students can relax and practice selfcare; and work with campus partners to provide healthier vending options in beverage and snack machines, as well as water filling stations across campus.
Students can also get actively involved with our office in several ways. They can apply to be a Peer Health Educator, serving one of the five topic areas as a focus. We also offer academic internships in the form of Field Placement and Practicum experiences for students in Social Ecology or Public Health. Volunteers are also welcomed in our office for events or special projects/research.
