A brief description of the native plant program, policy, or practice:
We promote biodiversity and self sustaining systems. For example, Facilities supports several student projects from riparian planting, vernal pools and native planting at Krieger Child Care slope, Sunset Canyon Rec Area, the native and drought tolerant plants at the Wyton/Hilgard entrance and the on-campus housing landscape on south and south/west slopes area and planter beds. The new Court of Sciences Student Center will feature a native plant garden on the roof with different California plant communities such as Chaparral or Riparian. There is also a landscape and natural areas task force with staff, faculty, and students working on these issues and on developing a guide for native and drought tolerant plant palate for use in campus landscaping projects.
